Exemplary enhancement of Montreal’s built heritage

The developer engaged professional urban planning, urban design, and landscape architecture services to manage the redevelopment of a strategically located site—at the intersection of Pie-IX Boulevard and Pierre-de-Coubertin Avenue, with direct visibility from the Pie-IX metro station entrance—as well as the municipal approval process. The proposed concept restored a disused multi-unit residential building by adding an extension that is both contemporary and understated, thereby highlighting Montreal’s built heritage.

The project included the addition of an extra story, designed to harmonize with the urban context and align with the city’s objectives for enhancing corner buildings. A total of 22 housing units were incorporated into the project, which was authorized through a PPCMOI application.

  • 476 m² of optimized land
  • 22 planned housing units
  • 462 housing units per hectare
